Howdy, I'm Nash. Sometimes known on the Internet as  leaf.

I'm a programming and systems polyglot and autodidact. After thirty years on the Internet, I still find myself excited to learn about the next great thing. My beard has turned gray, but the excitement I feel about technology is evergreen. Not that my beard was ever green, it's just an idiom. Don't be weird.

About My Work

I'm a software engineer, computer scientist, amateur mathematician, technologist, and entrepreneur.

Since 2016, I've been co-founder of Pyrofex, the technology laboratory behind the Silvermint Cryptocurrency Network. I've been working on consensus systems and protocols since my time at Google, where I worked on the infrastructure for Google's Paxos protocol service, codenamed Chubby.

Lately, I've been writing code primarily in Go, TypeScript, and the ubiquitous Unix shell. I spent decades writing C/C++, Python, Perl, and JavaScript. And, I've had interesting tourist experiences in a variety of languages. I wouldn't mind visiting Lisp again, but please don't ask me to look at JCL. Ever.

Until recently, it had been many years since I had done any real web design or development. An important Pyrofex project required that I learn React, though, and that's reinvigorated my excitement for beautiful web design. This web site is partly a result of that renewed interest.

Lastly, I'm particularly excited about the promise of AI and it's ability to help us grow and develop innovative new technology.
